About FI Praful Zaveri"

The Chief instructor and the Director of the School, is Praful Zaveri, who has trained more than 2000 children over a period of 15-years. Based on his performance at the Singapore International Chess Convention 2007 from 15th to 21st December 2007, FIDE (World Chess Federation) has been bestowed  the title of "FIDE Instructor" (FI). Incidentally, Praful Zaveri is the 1st Indian to obtain the title of 'FI'

International Course for FIDE-Instructor / FIDE-Trainer  

1.  Aims:
To enable participants to teach
- young and gifted players in schools and chess-clubs and to
- educate Trainers and Chess-Teachers not only in their own countries but also on an international basis.

2. Participants / Qualification:  

4.1  FIDE Instructor
       - Proof of at least 2 years activity as a trainer
       - A minimum rating of 1800 8.1     FIDE Instructor
8.1.1  Proof of at least 2 years activity as a trainer
8.1.2  A minimum rating of 1800  
8.1.3  Proof of teaching ability given by a demonstration lesson
          (spoken in English or other FIDE language)
8.1.4  Proof of successful participation of the trainer course 

Scope for FIDE Instructor:

  1. National Examiner and conduct courses for Instructors from Level-1 (Developmental Instructor - DI) & Level-2 (National Instructor - NI)

  2. Instruct/Train players with rating below and up to 1800 FIDE Ratings

 

Chess Books authored by FI Praful Zaveri :

Praful Zaveri, a FIDE rated player, is also the author of India's best selling chess book for the beginner and intermediate chess players - "The Chess Course" (ISBN 978-81-7525-816-7 first edition: 1999).

During these years, Praful Zaveri has acquired an impressive knowledge of junior chess, which laid to the foundation of creating "The Chess Course" . This 210 pages large A-4 size course book broke fresh ground and opened up new horizons in chess training. Where previous courses stopped after teaching the basic rules of the game, and others tried to teach too much too fast, 'The Chess Course' ensured that any child with a bit of interest could advance to club level and beyond. The course is now used extensively by most of the chess trainers across the country. Quite a few students, who had baptism at the Indian Chess School, have earned laurels at the State/National level chess tournaments.

Praful Zaveri has also written one more training manual - 'Mastermind Chess-I (ISBN: 978-81-7525-947-8), which has been released on 01st June 2008. This book is designed for intermediate players in the ELO range 1000-1400. The book has a foreword by 'Dronacharya Raghunandan Gokhale.

Prior to becoming a full-time Chess Instructor, Praful was active in the Chess circuits at the national and FIDE rated events. His last major participation was at the Colombo International Chess Tournament 2007 wherein he secured joint 3rd place.
 

Praful Zaveri was also nominated by the All India Chess Federation as the Instructor to assist FT Peter Long from Malaysia for the 'Orientation Seminar of Coaches' held at Chennai from 19-23 June 2009.

He was nominated by FIDE to assist in the CACDEC Trainer's Seminar held at Botswana from 03-08 August, 2008:

Praful Zaveri was also nominated as the Course Coordinator & Liaison Officer by the All India Chess Federation for the FI/FT Seminar for Coaches held at Chennai from 30th April to 07th May 2008.
